Fall Line works with farms to optimize land use, including introducing new crops and practices. One prime example is a Fall Line farm located on Radar Hill in Washington, overlooking the Columbia river basin, one of the most productive agricultural areas of the country. This farm has a great history of producing alfalfa, corn, potatoes, and carrots and resulted from an off-market transaction facilitated by one of Fall Line’s tenants.
Soon after closing and upon the advice of our contacts in the fruit industry, Fall Line established that the best use of the farm was the production of apples due to the specific microclimate of the hill. The orchard development started the same year.
Three of the newest and most sought-after apple tree varieties were planted. New specific trellis systems were created to support future fruit loads. The first harvest took place only three years later. The farm is managed closely using the combination of the long family experience of our tenant and some of the newest technologies available to optimize production.
